Voted the Worldā€™s Best Seaside Park

Casa del Rey Hotel, 1911

The Casa del Rey Hotel once stood where our main parking lot is now. Hotel guests could cross Beach Street without going outside. The hotel enjoyed many glamorous decades, ending up as a retirement hotel before it was badly damaged by the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake.

During WW2, the hotel served as a rehab hospital for the US Navy, they also used the indoor pool (now Neptune’s Kingdom.) The bridge from the hotel to the Cocoanut Grove was taken out long before the hotel.
