My daughter had just recently found the courage to ride the Giant Dipper. We did a quick trip to the Boardwalk before we had to pick up her brother from baseball practice. As our ride was ending, she said, “That was fun! Can we do it again?”
I looked at my watch and said, “Sorry, we don’t have time.”
At that point, the cars overshot the stopping point, so the ride workers had to let us go through again! We enjoyed the second time more than the first because it was a funny surprise.
So, for years after that, whenever my daughter and I were ending our ride, we would repeat that sequence of her requesting to go again and me looking at my watch saying we don’t have time in hopes of accidentally getting a second ride.
