My maternal grandparents, Sherwood and Christine Beckman, of Lodi, relax on the main beach, in the 1940’s.
They enjoyed their day trips to Santa Cruz so much that in the late 1940’s they bought a small cabin in Paradise Park, just outside of town up Hwy 9. They had four children and fourteen grandkids (I’m the youngest), all of who enjoyed “the cabin” into the 1970’s. I have great memories of going to either the main beach or Cowell’s with my cousins, playing in the water, and riding the rides on the boardwalk.
