It was my 19th birthday, the summer of 1981. I met this terrific girl at college named Andie. A Bay Area California native, like me. With a gorgeous tan and beautiful blonde hair. We played all day at the Boardwalk on my birthday that summer, and it was a date I’ll never forget. At the end of the day, we got our picture taken together and printed on a Boardwalk calendar at a souvenir stand. That was back in the day when they used dot matrix printers, so the resolution was kinda fuzzy. But the printer put a ‘sparkle’ in my eye that all my friends teased me about. But what can I say: that sparkle is still there – for Andie. We celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this year. And we’ve taken our two kids to the Boardwalk nearly every year since they were little. I hope and pray that the Boardwalk never goes away. It is really special!
