I was attending a summer seminar at New York University a few years ago, and while eating breakfast one morning was introduced to another attendee by a friend of mine. We started chatting about where we were from and found out we both had grown up in Santa Cruz and both had worked at the Boardwalk when we were teenagers in the mid 1970s. She worked on rides and I worked in all of the games. We spent a great deal of time remembering those days, and also being mutually proud of each other’s accomplishments since then. She is now a Professor of Classics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and I am Professor of Aeronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Who knows, maybe some of those skills we picked up while working at the Boardwalk helped us as we went through life! Thanks for the memories!!!
