My family would make the trek from San Francisco every July 4 back in the early 60’s to visit our relatives in Capitola. We used to light firecrackers in the old begonia fields near the Foster Freeze. We would walk down to Capitola Beach to watch the fireworks.
We always made a trip to the Beach Boardwalk and had a wonderful time on the roller coaster and the Wild Mouse ride! Now we live in Washington, but whenever we get the chance, I bring my own children to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. What a wonderful place!
